Public Invited to Attend “Making Your Wishes Known” Seminar

“Making Your Wishes Known: A Living Will is Not Enough” is an informative and interactive seminar discussing issues that may arise when individuals face life or death situations and are unable to speak for themselves. Joan Groh, Community Relations Representative for Hospice of Lancaster, will be presenting this program on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. in the Crest View Gathering Room on Fairmount’s Farm Crest campus. The public is invited to attend.

This program is intended to look at the importance of answering difficult end-of-life questions ahead of time, and how to share your wishes with others. Complimentary copies of the booklet entitled "Five Wishes" will be provided for attendees. This booklet, when completed, does in fact become a legal advance directive. It is written in a way that makes this topic very easy to understand and share with others.

Mark your calendar and plan to attend. No reservations are required.

Thanks to All for Successful Heritage Day!

Close to 4,000 people gathered at Fairmount Homes on June 5, 2010, to celebrate Heritage Day, making it the most successful Heritage Day ever with total revenues of $29,000 before expenses. Proceeds of Heritage Day benefit the Sharing Fund to assist residents who have exhausted their financial resources.

Fairmount grounds were filled with old farm equipment, antique cars and tractors, a steam engine, a petting zoo, and artisans hand-crafting wares from bygone days. Much of the food was prepared the old-fashioned way: homemade donuts, french fries cut and fried on-site, ice cream churned with hit-and-miss engines, pork barbecue sandwiches made from four whole pigs roasted overnight, and 100+ fresh strawberry pies.

It was also the last day of the Silent Auction that runs from late October through Heritage Day. During this time, bidders compete for beautiful antique and collectible items displayed weekly. This year’s Silent Auction alone brought in close to $8,000.

Thanks are due to everyone who contributed in any way to the success of the day - by donating time, talent or services, bidding on the Silent Auction throughout the year or on Heritage Day, or simply by your presence.
